— A volunteer ombudsman is a neighbor trained to find answers and resolve simple problems older adults experience in the long-term care system. Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers who enjoy visiting with others and have three or four hours a month available. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS need volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age-appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on our website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large or small groups, clubs, classes, families and individuals. LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville, needs volunteers for the annual Winter Lights Spectacular. Volunteers needed 5:30-10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 4:30-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday through Jan. 2. Volunteers will assist with concession stands, crafts booth, activities booths, attending fire pits, photo booth station, and more. Minimum age 13. MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY needs individuals to grocery shop for seniors who are unable to go to the store due to disability or concerns of COVID19. Shoppers receive a grocery list and assigned grocery store and purchase the items on the list. Then, the individuals drop the groceries off at the client’s home. At times, the client may need assistance putting the groceries in cabinets, refrigerator, etc. Face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and other supplies to keep you and the client safe provided.
