— A volunteer ombudsman is a neighbor trained to find answers and resolve simple problems older adults experience in the long-term care system. Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers who enjoy visiting with others and have three or four hours a month available. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS need volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age-appropriat­e items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on our website. This program, coordinate­d by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large or small groups, clubs, classes, families and individual­s. LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksvi­lle, needs volunteers for the annual Winter Lights Spectacula­r. Volunteers needed 5:30-10 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 4:30-10 p.m. Friday through Sunday through Jan. 2. Volunteers will assist with concession stands, crafts booth, activities booths, attending fire pits, photo booth station, and more. Minimum age 13. MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY needs individual­s to grocery shop for seniors who are unable to go to the store due to disability or concerns of COVID19. Shoppers receive a grocery list and assigned grocery store and purchase the items on the list. Then, the individual­s drop the groceries off at the client’s home. At times, the client may need assistance putting the groceries in cabinets, refrigerat­or, etc. Face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and other supplies to keep you and the client safe provided. LUKE’S UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK needs lobby greeters every day of the week from 8 a.m. to noon, noon to 4 p.m., or 4-7 p.m. Assist staff with greeting and checking in both patients and visitors while providing a warm, welcoming environmen­t. This volunteer opportunit­y is diverse and very active (walking) all while helping to make a difference in the lives of our patients and staff. WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE, Bethlehem, needs volunteers to wrap, sort and pack gifts for local children 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Saturdays; and 3-6 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 13.
