Penalize those not wearing masks at parties Those who ignore CDC guidelines needed for studies

A Paul Muschick column on Nov. 17 expressed what we should be seeing from government on mask wearing. Penalize those who are not following guidelines. This is not about anyone “losing” a freedom; it is about saving the lives that could be lost if we choose to do nothing.

I’m aware of a neighbor who has people to his home most weekends. Recently, there was a costume party of about 40-50 people; the only thing missing were masks on everyone in attendance. I’ve seen the photos posted on social media.

These people — in their 50s, not college age kids — left that party to go hometo others in their homes, children who go to school, elderly parents at home, or who they visit, to work, to have dinner with friends. It is no wonder that the PA COVID Dashboard shows myZIP code with high case numbers.

People are not going to stop doing what they do, party it up without masks, unless there is a consequence. Just as we teach children a lesson, we need a consequence for adults that speaks to them, through their wallet.

These studies need folks like you, who refuse to follow CDC guidelines, to be part of these trials to provide valuable information in regards to the safety and effectiveness of these vaccines that are in the trial stages. By becoming part of these studies, you would be providing valuable research for vaccine development, which could save many lives.
