Threats of a revolt are irresponsible

-

On Dec. 8, the Arizona GOP’s Twitter account retweeted “Stop the Steal” activist Ali Alexander: “I am willing to give my life for this fight,” commenting: “He is. Are you?”

Later the account tweeted a Rambo quote: “This is what we do, who we are: Live for nothing, or die for something.”

Why are we allowing this to happen to ourselves? If the Republicans want to have some sort of physical conflict over the election, then it should be leaving its Christians behind.

“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people whoare doing right, but in those who are doing wrong.” (Romans 13:1-3)

Christians have gone on long enough chasing the trappings of power in this country, and we have sacrificed our own legitimacy in the act. Did not Jesus say that “among you it will be different,” that we shall not exercise authority over others, but be servants?
