Tamaqua accepting exemption applications Medical student scholarships offered

-

The Tamaqua Area School District is now accepting assessed occupation tax exemption applications for the 2021-2022 school year (calendar year 2021).

Retired persons and housewives with no earned income who have previously filed an application and have been approved for exemption need not file again unless their status has changed and they now have earned income. If you are disabled or 75 years of age and have been specifically notified by the district that you are exempt, you do not have to file an application.

A student 18 years old as of June 30 is responsible for the taxes unless exempt by application. Requests for exemption of the assessed occupation tax are due no later than March 1.

Application forms are available at the following locations: School District Administration Building, tax collectors, Tamaqua Municipal Building, Tamaqua Public Library, all local post offices and banks.

The Northampton County Medical Society Alliance is offering $1,000 scholarships for 2019-2020 school year to medical, nursing and physician assistant students whose permanent residence is in Northampton County or Bethlehem.

Go to www.ncmsa.org for information and online application. Deadline to apply and submit all appl cation materials is March 15.
