Intro to beekeeping classes offered

The Lehigh Valley Beekeepers will be offering their 10th annual comprehensive Introduction to Beekeeping course virtually via Zoom this year. Classes will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays Feb. 3 through March 24 culminating in a trip to the club’s apiary in late March to experience working with live colonies.

Weekly topics will include Honey Bee Biology, Hives and Hardware, Setting up the Hive, A Year in the Life of a Beekeeper, The Legalities of Beekeeping, Pests and Diseases, and the Joy of Honey and other Hive Products.

The instructors, all seasoned beekeepers and members of the LVBA, will share their experience and give students all the basics for keeping bees alive and healthy. The course fee is $50 per household and includes emailed course materials and log-in information. Register at lehighvalleybeekeepers.org.
