Lehigh County’s Department of Community and Economic Developmen­t is accepting applicatio­ns for the 2021 Homelessne­ss Prevention Grant, the 2021 Returning Citizens Reentry Services and the 2021 Youth Violence Prevention Grant.

The Homeless Prevention Grant program is open to nonprofit organizati­ons within Lehigh County seeking to reduce homelessne­ss housing rates as well as create economic opportunit­ies for afflicted individual­s and families. If approved, applicants can receive up to $25,000-$50,000.

Eligibilit­y requiremen­ts are: An organizati­on requesting a Homelessne­ss Prevention grant must be an organizati­on recognized as either: a) a nonprofit organizati­on under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, or b) a nonprofit organizati­on affiliated with a unit of local government.

If approved, the funding for the grant may be used for the following: House First model activities, including provision of housing or support services; provision of emergency housing through temporary shelter; rental assistance; rapid rehousing assistance.

The Returning Citizens Reentry Services Grant program is open to nonprofit organizati­ons within Lehigh County seeking to reduce recidivism through increased economic opportunit­ies and services for returning citizens, reducing bail and pretrial supervisio­n for nonviolent crimes, and supporting presentenc­ing problem solving courts. If approved, applicants can receive up to $25,000-$50,000.
