Joseph G. Richter, Jr., 71 years, of Kempton, passed away on Friday, December

3, 2021, at home. He was the husband of Sharon L. (Scheller) Richter for 45 years this month. Born in Yonkers, NY he was a son of Phyllis (DeBenedetto) Richter of Wappingers

Falls, NY and the late Joseph G. Richter, Sr. He owned Richter Transport in Kempton for 27 years. Joseph honorably served in the United States Air Force.

If you knew Joe, and you read that statement, odds are good a rush of memories just flooded your mind.

Maybe you grew up with him in Hastings, NY. Possibly you got to enjoy the list of cars he always regretted selling. You may have ridden with him as he drove his dad's buses. You could have known him from Dover Air Force base and his time in Delaware. You could have worked with him as he was a super trucker hauling freight all over the country with countless companies. Maybe you saw the pride he had to be the President of Richter Transport. You could have seen him glow as

he shared the news of him ordering his custom “champagne” Western Star. You may have hauled a trailer with Richter Transport on the side, but odds are better you caught something that fell off the back of one of those trailers. No matter how busy he was, he always had time to prepare the menu and cook for his friends and brothers of the Harding deer camp. He was always willing to help a neighbor at the Pine Lakes of Lynn. Maybe he hosted you at Horwood Lake Lodge where he shared with you his fishing secrets and took you on countless adventures into the wilderness.

Below you will see a list of immediate family, but at the end of the day, there is a vast list of people who were just as close to him as his family. All of whom remember that belly laughs filling the room. All of you have a story to share, and most of you appreciate the fact that

it's not on social media. So, join us in making sure he lives on for generations through the stories we all share and the memories we all hold dear.
