Alfred F. Fruhwirth
Alfred F. Fruhwirth, 92, of Allentown, passed away in the presence of his family on Thursday, January 27th. He was the husband for 66 years of the late Claire G. (Shanaberger) Fruhwirth, who passed away in October of 2016. Born at home on October 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph and Katharine (Mikovits) Fruhwirth. A devoted family man, Alfred and Claire raised nine children together, providing them with a Catholic education and many wonderful experiences, making holiday, vacation and travel memories to be cherished by them all. Alfred was a master plumber, taking over his father’s business, which began in 1929 as Fruhwirth Plumbing and Heating and has since been passed on several years ago to his son Julius. He was actively involved in local, state and national plumbing contractor associations. This provided opportunities for him
and his wife to travel to many countries throughout the world by attending international plumbing conventions. Alfred is survived by his children: Cecilia Otto and husband Joseph, Thomas Fruhwirth and wife Doris, Claire Fruhwirth, Michael Fruhwirth and wife Lisa, Karen Zampell and husband Nino, Andrew Fruhwirth, Matthew Fruhwirth and wife Denise, Julius Fruhwirth and wife Lisa, and Mary Fruhwirth and husband John Schmidt, sister Katharine Borgmann, grandchildren Andrea,
Gwen, Neil, Gessika, Edward, Eric, Erica, Samantha and Alexandra, great grandchildren Levi, Olivia,
Maeve and Aiden. He is also survived by several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife and a brother Joseph Jr. and a sister Marie Lathrop.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February
3rd at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at
St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 1046 W Cedar St, Allentown, PA 18102. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Trexler Funeral Home and Thursday morning 9:0010:00 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made
