Thomas E. Havanko, 73, of Emmaus, passed away peacefully on January 26th at the Lehigh Valley Health Network Hospice Center in Allentown. He was the son of the late Stephen and Evelyn (Hilbert) Havanko of Emmaus. Tom was a graduate of Emmaus High School, class of 1968, and the Spring Garden Automotive Vocational School in Philadelph­ia,

PA. He played the tenor saxophone in the high

school band and in the Macungie Band for many years. While in high school, he was a member of Boy Scout troops 25 and 38, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

He was employed for 23 years at Spirax Sarco Inc.

in Allentown. Prior to that he worked for Tyler Pipe Company in Macungie, and for Kemp’s Gulf Station in Allentown. After full-time employment, he worked part-time as a security guard at various locations around the Lehigh Valley.

He enjoyed watching dirt track racing and was a collector of racing memorabili­a. At one time he was working on restoring two antique Chevrolet coupes. He was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Emmaus.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Havanko and his wife, Marybeth, of Emmaus, nephew Paul Havanko of Kutztown, and several cousins.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus, and will be private at the convenienc­e of the family. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery in Emmaus.
