August 29th, 1936 - January 5th, 2022

Louise C. Schick, 85, of Lower Macungie, PA, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 5th,

2022. She was the wife of the late James E. Schick Sr. with whom she enjoyed 61 years of marriage. The youngest of Daniel and Harriett (Bachman) Fritch’s three children, she grew up in Allentown and was a graduate of Allentown High School where she excelled in academics and athletics.

Louise earned an RN degree from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Class of ‘57) and a BSN from Kutztown State Teachers’ College. She was an Instructor of Nursing at the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing until starting a family. While raising her three children, she worked in private practice for Dr. Sam Criswell before becoming a school nurse for the Bethlehem Area School District. Her profession was her calling; a strong work ethic, her instrument.

Faith was an integral part of Louise’s fiber. She was an active and long-time member of Salem UCC, serving on the Elder Board and organizing many food drives. Most recently she attended Bethany UM Church, and participated in Bible studies and SIA at Faith Evangelical Free Church.

Louise, “Weezie” to her dear friends, lived a life of gratitude, humility, and service through her tireless, creative, and systematic expressions of love spanning many genres as the family historian. A witty “sage-of-all

trades,” her gifts and talents were countless, from poetry, letter writing, and blessing others with her signature photo cards to renovating houses and designing her “parks.” Quilting, sewing, and crocheting; playing bridge and parlor games; hosting celebrations; making cookies and applesauce; arranging marathon luncheons; and traveling with her beloved crossword puzzles propelled this servant-leader. Above all though, her compassionate spirit knew no bounds when she oversaw the process of aging relatives for several decades while playing “Dr. Mom” to all her children.

Louise was happiest spending time with family and the many friends with whom she stayed in contact, some for 75+ years, capturing Kodak moments at each gathering. She will be dearly missed by all of those who were blessed and honored to know our loving mom… Louise.
