Mary Radio, 102, of Allentown, peacefully passed away on March 8, 2022. Born on May 13, 1919, Mary was the oldest of four children of John and Anna (Dorosz) Oleksa. She married John Radio on August 10, 1946 after he returned from serving during WWII and together they raised two sons. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where she was active with the

St. Mary’s Young Ladies Auxiliary. Following her husband’s death in 1977,

Mary remarkably remained in the house they built together where she could be found cooking and sharing Ukrainian traditions until she approached 100 years of age. She nurtured relationsh­ips across five generation­s within her lifetime—arms always open to hold the newest baby on her lap. Mary lived each day honorably with a quiet strength and grace. She was a blessing to many and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her sister Kathryn Solan; her son Dr. Gregory Radio and his wife, Rosalie, and their children, Scott and Keri; her daughter-in-law Nancy Radio and her sons, Matthew, Mark, and Timothy and 14 greatgrand­children whom “Baba” adored. She leaves behind a large extended family including many special nieces and nephews.

Mary was predecease­d by her parents, John and Anna Oleksa; brothers, Metro Oleska and Michael Oleksa; and by her beloved son, John “Jay” Radio in 2021. Services: Saturday, March 19, 2022. A viewing will be held from 9-10:15 AM at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A church service will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1031 Fullerton Avenue, Allentown, PA 18102.

Interment to follow at the church cemetery. Contributi­ons: In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the church at 1031 Fullerton Avenue, Allentown, PA 18102. In memo, please put “Aid to Ukraine Fund – In Memory of Mary Radio.”
