James C. Van Fossen
James C. Van Fossen, 88, of Orefield, passed away Friday, March 11 2022 in his home after a long illness from Charcot-Marie Tooth (CMT). He was the husband of Louise H. Van Fossen to whom he was married 26 years. Born in Frederick, MD, February 24, 1934, Jim was the son of the late Eldred Winfield and Elizabeth (Remley) Van Fossen. Jim graduated from Frederick High School in 1952. He worked for a finance company, which changed it’s name over the years. He was employed as an auditor traveling in 42 of the 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Jim was an avid bowler, loved traveling to The Phillies and Reading baseball games and watching the Washington Redskins. He volunteered for Junior Achievement and Channel 39 On Air Auctions. He was a Little League baseball coach in Falls Church, VA. Jim loved fireworks and would tell stories of how he set of fireworks in Falls Church. Jim loved spending time at his sister and brother-in-laws cottage in Hoopers Island, MD. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Louise; children, Mark W. Van Fossen (Patricia ) of Sanford, NC, Deborah A. Choquette (Rick) and Cynthia M. Van Fossen both of Pocomoke City, MD, Marian E. Van Fossen of Viera, FL, Danielle L. Hutchinson (Scott) of Charleston, SC, Jon S. Schneck (Amy) of Old Zionsville; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family; predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.
Service: A celebration of Jim’s life will be held 7:30 pm. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. The Rev.
Tyler J. Parry will be officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 6:00 pm. – 7:30 pm. Wednesday in the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares. com.
