Catholic baseball coach Mike Grasso earns the 200th win of his 28-year coaching career when the Golden Hawks beat Nazareth, 5-2.

1995: Pocono Mountain graduate Jen Nish, a sophomore at the University of Scranton, is named to the Kodak Women’s Basketball Coaches Associatio­n Division III All-American team.

1993: Bethlehem Catholic (25-6) storms into the PIAA Class 3A girls basketball East finals with a 61-41 win over Lancaster Catholic behind Christy Cochran’s 23 points and 15 rebounds. However, Notre Dame falls to Shamokin Lourdes 69-62 and fails to reach the Class A girls East final.

1992: After leading Moravian to the NCAA Division III women’s championsh­ip game, Mary Beth Spirk is named the national coach of the year. And senior Kathy Beck is named the national player of the year after leading the Greyhounds in scoring (20.2), rebounding (10.2), assists (3.1) and steals (4.8), among other categories. Beck, a former Palmerton High School star, finishes her career as the school’s leading scorer (1,936 points) and rebounder (1,010).

1985: Pine Grove denies Marian Catholic a berth in the girls basketball

Class 2A state finals and ends the Fillies’ 36-game winning streak with a 55-41 win in the Eastern finals.

1965: Sophomore Mike Caruso (123 pounds) and senior Mike Stuart (137) win national titles to help Lehigh to third place in the NCAA wrestling championsh­ips, the Engineers’ highest-ever finish.
