Two Lehighton residents arrested following shooting
Bethlehem police arrested two Lehighton residents Friday after a shooting that resulted in no injuries at Big Woody’s in Bethlehem.
Brian Saffarally, 36, and Judith Saffarally, 35, both of the 400 block of N. 2nd St., Lehighton, are being held on multiple charges following an incident late Friday night at the popular restaurant on Easton Avenue, according to a news release by the Bethlehem Police Department.
Officers responded at 11:02 p.m. to multiple reports of a disturbance that included a physical altercation and gunfire. Officers who arrived at the scene found Brian Saffarally and Judith Saffarally in the parking lot in front of the restaurant and arrested them. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
According to the news release, Brian Saffarally used a handgun to fire one round through the front window of the restaurant and also threatened customers inside with the firearm. Judith Saffarally, using the same handgun, also fired at least one shot and also threatened customers with the gun, the release states. No injuries were reported as a result of the gunshots.
Brian Saffarally is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, making terroristic threats, criminal mischief, carrying a firearms without a license and recklessly endangering another person.
Judith Saffarally is charged with making terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time, the release states.
