Cedar Crest College to host Adm. Rachel L. Levine
Adm. Rachel L. Levine, will speak at Cedar Crest College, 100 College Drive, Allentown, at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in Alumnae Hall. Adm. Levine’s appearance is part of Cedar Crest College’s William D. Reimert Lecture Series. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Levine serves as the 17th Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the head of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Levine has had a storied career, first, as a physician in academic medicine focused on the intersection between mental and physical health, as well as treating children, adolescents and young adults. Then, as Pennsylvania’s physician general and later as Pennsylvania’s secretary of health, she addressed COVID-19, the opioid crisis, behavioral health and other public health challenges.
In addition to her recent posts in medicine and government, Levine is an accomplished speaker and author of numerous publications on the opioid crisis, adolescent medicine, eating disorders and LGBT medicine. Levine is working to help our nation overcome the COVID19 pandemic and build a stronger foundation for a healthier future — one in which every American can attain their full health potential.
Cedar Crest students studying women, gender and sexuality studies, nursing and public health will have the opportunity to meet with Levine the afternoon before she delivers her lecture.
