Family fun alert: Save the date for Banana Factory Block Party
There’s a two-day event coming up in May that will let you experience art in all its many forms.
And did we mention it’s free and family-friendly?
The Banana Factory Block Party, offering live music, comedy, exhibitions, art workshops and more, will be held May 6 and 7 at the Banana Factory Arts Center in SouthSide Bethlehem.
Here’s what you need to know about this event — formerly known as the SouthSide Arts & Music Festival:
Music and more
The musical lineup for the Block Party includes performances by local favorites Trouble City All Stars and Big Easy
Easton Brass
Salsa and Bachata dance workshops will be facilitated by Aja Jefferson
There will be a live comedy program called “I’m Probably Reading Into This” with Aliya Brown and Addyson Teal
Party activities will take place outside, as well as throughout Banana Factory’s art galleries, glassblowing studio, artist studios and classrooms.
Art
You can take part in art-making activities with mural artist Symone Salib as well as Bob Ross Paint-along and a free photo print swap hosted by Dan’s Camera City.
Attendees are also invited to enjoy current exhibitions on display including “Heroes” by Musikfest poster artist Bart Cooper, “My Mind is an Escape Room” by Kailey Atkinson and “Abecynnia” by William Harris.
The weekend will also feature ArtsQuest’s new All AccessIBLE arts program with a sensory-friendly touch collection made by Mallory Zondag.
Other featured events include Yoga & Art Workshop with Mindfulness Educator Brooke Kohler, Small Works Art Sale featuring the work of the Banana Factory resident artists, glassblowing demonstrations, screen printed tote bag workshop.

The weekend will also feature Drag Queen Story Hour with Miss Amie, lawn games and more
Snacks at this event can be purchased from Simply Skewered and Kona Ice and there will be a cash bar available.
