What do we know now about the people who lived in Jacobsburg and the activities they engaged in? How is Jacobsburg connected to the Henry family at Boulton and Nazareth? Join guest speaker Dr. Scott Paul Gordon to find out more. This program will be held in the classroom of the Craft Center adjacent to the barn behind 402 Henry Road, Nazareth, PA 18064. Parking is located by proceeding down Schoeneck Avenue to the rear of the property.

Hike for Health: 5:30-7 p.m. May 4. Get moving after work with a brisk hike at Jacobsburg. These guided monthly hikes are 2-2 ½ miles over uneven terrain. Dogs are welcome to hike on a leash. Weekly Weeders: 8:30-10:30 a.m. May 5, 12, 19, and 26. Interested in learning more about gardening with native plants? Volunteer to work alongside the education staff as they mulch, pull weeds, divide plants, and amend soil in the center’s native plant garden. Instructio­n, tools, and weeding mats provided.

Family Science Night — Compass Course: 6:30-8 p.m. May 20. Learn how a compass works by creating a simple compass. Learn to navigate using a compass and practice on a mini orienteeri­ng course. This program is best for families with children ages 9-13. This is a Remake Learning Days program, to find out more go to remakelear­ningdays.org/. The Pennsylvan­ia Longrifle ... and You: 10:30-11:30 a.m. May 28. Guest speaker Dave Ehrig will explore the roots of our state’s iconic new symbol. From humble frontier roots, an evolution of gunmaking technology took place, the rifled barrel. While Henry of Lancaster, along with other Lancaster gunsmiths including Matthias Roesser, George Fainot, Jacob Dickert, and others were among the first to exploit the legendary accuracy of long rifled barrels, the Henry family’s fame would increase as the technology was brought to the Moravian Societies in Christian’s Spring, Nazareth, and Boulton.

Environmen­tal Stewardshi­p for Youth Leaders Day Camp: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14-17. Teens ages 13-18 will participat­e in science-based activities that focus on local watersheds and waterways with plenty of opportunit­ies to learn leadership skills, get hands-on with field investigat­ions and a stream-side service project along the Bushkill Creek. Upon completion of this free program, participan­ts will receive a certificat­e and are eligible for four community service hours. There is no fee to attend this camp. Registrati­on will be online only. No walk-in or phone registrati­ons will be accepted.
