Lewis S. "Lou" Gower, Jr.
Lewis S. “Lou” Gower, Jr., 71, of Danielsville, passed away at home suddenly on Thursday, April 14, 2022. He was the husband of Rita M. (Reph) Gower. Born in Rockville, he was a son of the late
Lewis S. Sr. and Mary T. (Mesics) Gower. He was a graduate of Northampton
High School, class of 1969. For nearly 25 years, Lou was employed by PennDOT before retiring in 2013 as a bridge foreman. He previously worked for Mack Trucks, and he also worked part-time for several years at Blue Mountain Ski Resort. A true car enthusiast, Lou loved collecting classic cars and attended many of the local area shows and meets. Remote control car racing was one of his favorite pastimes, as well as fishing
and hunting. Lou was a life member of Blue Mountain Fish & Game and a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Danielsville. Survivors: In addition to Rita, his loving wife of 51 years, Lou will be deeply missed by his daughters, Jennifer Strubinger and husband, William, of Lehighton, and Christine Appleton and husband, Gregory, of Danielsville; four grandchildren, Caleb, Leah, Ryan, and Addison; a brother, Robert Gower and companion, Carol
Lee of Palmerton; a sister, Madelin Kocher and husband, Tom, of Point Phillips; along with nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by an infant brother, Thomas Gower.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in Salem United Methodist Church, 1067 Blue Mountain Drive, Danielsville, PA 18038. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to Salem United Methodist Church, Danielsville.
