Carol Catherine Holben Daniel, 83, died peacefully on April 21, 2022 in her home in Salisbury Township, PA surrounded by loving family and friends.

The daughter of Stephen and Miriam (Kuhns) Chipser, Carol was born and raised in Allentown and was a graduate of Allentown High School (1956) and Abington School of Nursing (1959). Upon graduation, Carol became a pediatric nurse at Allentown Hospital (17th St). Her nursing skills were best utilized, however, performing home dialysis for 18 years for her first husband, Michael L. Holben. Carol served as a mentor and coach for home dialysis for numerous families and nurses in training.

Carol was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Macungie, PA with her second husband of 28 years, John Lisy Daniel. They traveled extensivel­y, wintering in St. Petersburg, FL, and together were active participan­ts in local, regional, and national church service. After her first husband’s death, Carol carried on as a land developer for the family. She served on the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) Board of Associates Executive Committee and the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Visiting Nurses, Celebrity Luncheons. Carol was also a member and supporter of LVHN Friends of Nursing, Emmaus Junior Women’s Club, the Zoellner Arts Center Inaugural Committee – Lehigh University, and The Bach Choir of Bethlehem’s First Gala Committee. Carol will be remembered as a charming, graceful person and loving matriarch. She was known for her vibrant personalit­y and her ability to start a conversati­on with anyone. She lovingly raised her three children, participat­ing in all their events and activities despite her husband’s chronic illness. She adored her grandchild­ren (and they her) and had a unique bond with each

of them. During a long illness, Carol was able to remain at home thanks to an amazing team of caregivers, LVHN Hospice personnel, and a very special pastor. They tirelessly supported her and the entire family, and we are forever grateful to them.

In addition to her husband John, Carol is survived by her children: Lauren Holben Fine and husband Mark, Allentown, PA, Susan Holben Ioannou and husband John, Union NJ, Eric Michael Holben and wife Jane, Allentown, PA; grandchild­ren: Andrew, Megan, Kevin, Shaun, Michael, Christophe­r, Collin, and Erica; brother: John Chipser and wife Frances, Blain, WA; and her dear sister-in-law Patricia Holben Eckert,

St. Petersburg, FL. She was predecease­d by her husband of 32 years, Michael Lee Holben, and an infant son, Todd Daniel Holben.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. in Concordia Lutheran Church 2623 Brookside Road Macungie. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:15 P.M. in the Church. The service will be streamed beginning at 2:30 P.M. using YouTube, “Concordia Lutheran Church Macungie PA”. Interment will take place in Western Salisbury Cemetery, Allentown. Following the interment, a reception will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, Macungie. Arrangemen­ts by the J.S.
