We Should Have Moved Earlier

-

At Fellowship Community, the comment that is heard most often from independent living residents is, “We should have moved here earlier.” It’s no wonder they say that. At

Fellowship you can create your own lifestyle while living in well-appointed apartments and townhomes on our continuing care campus.

All of the annoying chores of home and yard upkeep are taken care of by staff. If you’re tired of mowing the lawn and shoveling snow, no worries, it’s done for you. If there is an appliance issue, it’s fixed or replaced at no cost to you. Getting rid of worries allows you to do only the things you enjoy as you live a carefree life.

Fellowship Community has seven Courts that are small neighborhoods where you really get to know each other. “The residents in each Court become like family,” says Laura Long, vice president of independent living. “Our residents enjoy the front porch atmosphere that

encourages neighbors to stop and chat in a very relaxed environment.” According to Long, the residents frequently get together to enjoy a

cup of coffee, a happy hour or a picnic. “More people in their early seventies are moving onto our campus. Making the choice to move here is not only wonderful for our residents, but also a tremendous gift to their adult children who are thankful that their parents made their own decision regarding where they want to call home. They do not have to worry about their parents’ safety and future changing health care needs,” she adds.

Along with impromptu gatherings among neighbors, Fellowship offers planned activities both on and off campus. “Fellowship Fit” is a free wellness program offering exercise tips and classes as well as informational sessions. For residents with active minds who enjoy learning something new, lifelong learning sessions are held featuring everything from scam prevention to writing a family legacy. Painting and drawing classes are designed for those who are artistic at heart or aspire to be artists.

A newly-formed garden club helps beautify the campus and is currently working on planning the outdoor area for the memory care center.

Card groups, bocce ball and shuffleboard engage game players while walks on our beautiful campus help residents enjoy the outdoors. Residents may experience nature in an accessible park with a variety of trees and flowers, as well as a babbling brook that leads

to a pond with a water feature.

Church services, Bible studies and individual visits with our pastoral care team are available for those seeking spiritual guidance.

Off-campus outings to theatre shows, events and restaurants are planned complete with transportation. Day trips and extended vacations are available and coordinated by an activities committee. There is something for everyone at

Fellowship Community.

“Most importantly, the advantage of living in a continuing care community is that all of the services are on campus,” says Mary

Kay McMahon, president/CEO. “If you’re an independent living resident and have a knee replaced, short-term rehab is on campus. If you have a spouse with dementia, they can reside in our memory care unit and you can spend every day with them, knowing that they are well cared for by trained staff. Moving to Fellowship Community gives people peace of mind and we assist everyone through the moving process. It is not a decision that should be put off, everyone should come when they can enjoy the wonderful lifestyle we have to offer.”
