David G. Schneck
David G. Schneck, 91, formerly of Slatington, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. He was the husband of the late Ruth E. (Bleiler) Schneck.
Born in Slatington, August 25, 1930, David was the son of the late Willie D. and Miriam A. (Guldner) Schneck. David was proud to be the 8th generation descendant of Adam Schneck for whom Schnecksville was named. A member of the Grundsau Lodge, his roots were anchored deep in the historical aspects of the
PA Dutch dialect. He grew up on the family farm in Washington Township. David was an entrepreneur who was co-owner of Stor-Mor Self Storage near Slatington for 30 years, retiring in 2011. He co-developed Northridge Terrace, a 13 home residential development on the family farm. Prior to that, he drove truck for the Shell Oil Co. in Macungie and Matlack Trucking in Northampton for 20 years, and owned and operated Hilltop Poultry Farm in Washington Township. David owned a private airstrip on a portion of the farm where he flew his airplane on beautiful days throughout the year. He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville where he formerly served on the property committee. David also served on the Washington Township Planning Commission. Survivors: Children, Anne L. Zagarella of Slatington, Cindy S. Paules and her husband, John of Cranberry Township, Dennis D. Schneck and his wife, Maureen of Cedar Key, FL, Susan D. Schneck of Carlisle; grandchildren, Salvatore D. Zagarella, Stephanie Z. Delich, Nicholas M. Schleinkofer, Deborah Pirollo, Pamela Kressley;
great-grandchildren, Santo, Evelyn, Idania,
Ilaria; loving companion, Marjorie Geissinger of Zionsville; predeceased by a brother, Harold F. Schneck.
Service: Funeral services will be held 11:00 am. Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Union Evangelical
Lutheran Church, 5500 PA Route 873, Schnecksville with the Rev. Gordon A. Camp
officiating. No calling hours. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
