Frank Emil Lawatsch, Sr., 101, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022. Born in Kingston, NY on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2021, he was the son of Emil Lawatsch and Mathilda (Steinert) Lawatsch. Mr. Lawatsch was predecease­d by his wife of 78 years, Jessie Margaret (Kapreilian) who was born on Christmas Day 1923 and passed away on December 12, 2021. She was the daughter of Harry Charles Kapreilian and Maude (Binch) Kapreilian.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawatsch were long term residents of Poughkeeps­ie, NY and Nazareth, PA. Both attended Kingston High School and Mr. Lawatsch graduated from Colgate University (’43). During World War II, Mr. Lawatsch worked to develop and produce DDT that was used to protect

U.S. armed forces from malaria. After the war, he joined DeLaval Separator Company in Poughkeeps­ie, NY and rose to become a Senior Vice President and director of industrial sales and a member of the Board of Directors.

They are survived by two sons, Frank Jr. and Robert (Anne), and grandchild­ren Andrew,

Amanda Jones (Frank O’Reilly), Jennifer Decatur (James), Dr. Abigail Langan (Dr. Christophe­r) and Dr. Frank III (Dr. Elia) and seven great grandchild­ren: Drew and Zoey Decatur, Madeleine, Annabel, Eloise and Eamonn Langan, and Mylo Lawatsch.

A memorial service for both Mr. and Mrs. Lawatsch will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, PA on September 10, 2022 at 10 AM. Interment will be at Wiltwyck Cemetery in Kingston, NY on September 11,
