1985: Coplay begins the chase for its eighth state American Legion baseball title and first in 10 years at Wilkes-Barre by beating Hopewell 7-6 on John Csencsits’ RBI single in the 10th inning. Later in the day Coplay holds a 3-2 lead on Berwick when the game is suspended by rain in the fourth inning.

1984: District 11 announces it will sponsor football championship games in the fall, joining District 7 (WPIAL) and District 3 as the only PIAA districts to conduct football playoffs. Under the new format, the top two teams in each of the three classes will meet in a onegame playoff.
