No constitutional right to an abortion

The Constitution enumerates many rights, like the right to own a gun, but it does not provide a right to abortion.

Yes, women should have control over their bodies while realizing many functions produce their own effects. Take disease for instance. Or sex encounters with their possibility of creating separate human beings.

Abortion is not health care. Surgical abortions have been linked with later miscarriages and premature births. If a woman’s life is imminently in danger, preterm deliveries are much safer than ripping babies apart in surgical abortions. Treatments for miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy are not abortion.

There is help for women with unplanned pregnancies. Three thousand Crisis Pregnancy Centers helped 1.9 million women. Family leave programs have increased and some workers have access to state-based programs providing paid family leave. Safe

Haven laws relieve the burden of parenting without killing the unborn child.

Roe’s reversal ignited conversations about rights of mothers and human beings who have hearts that beat 65 times/minute at four weeks gestation; brains at eight weeks, and at 12 weeks are fully formed human beings. Abortion laws should protect them both. Betty Madden
