Nancy Knerr Light,

89, of Bethlehem, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. She was the wife of the late Dr. Harry

Grim Light. Born in Quakertown, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Rachel (Haring) Knerr. Nancy was a graduate of the National Cathedral School, Washington D.C. where she graduated as #1 in her class of 1950. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College, class of 1954. Nancy was a devoted philanthro­pist and community volunteer throughout her life. Causes that helped

children, promoted the arts and preserved area history were of particular interest to her. She served on the boards of Wiley House, Kemmerer Museum and Friends of Hugh Moore Park. She was a member and volunteer for the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley, Society of the Arts at the Allentown Art Museum, past treasurer of the St. Luke's Charity Ball, past Chair of the Book Fair for AAUW, Kidspeace,

Sun Inn, Historic Bethlehem Partnershi­p, St.

and the YWCA of Bethlehem. She was honored for her volunteer efforts, receiving various awards such as Honorary Chair of the Historic Bethlehem Museum and Sites Holiday Auction, 2020 and 2005, Gala Honorary Chairwoman of the Allentown Art Museum, May 2014 and Golden Laurel of the YWCA of Bethlehem,

2013. In addition, Nancy was the longest living member of the Unitarian Church of Lehigh Valley. Nancy enjoyed reading and gardening, and was an avid bridge player. She had a lifelong love of cats, never turning away a stray. She enjoyed travel, especially with her family and to destinatio­ns where she could pursue her interest in early cultures. Nancy instilled a love

of family through the generation­s by ensuring that her far-flung family was connected through travel. This will be part of her legacy. Nancy was a lifelong learner and kept current with

new discoverie­s in the natural sciences. Above all, Nancy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great grandmothe­r, volunteer and loyal friend. She always enjoyed a good joke and her easy laugh will be missed. SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Harry Light, Jr., Jennifer and her husband Thomas Gage and their children Julia and Graham Gage, Andrew Light, and Lucinda and her husband Walter Dealtrey and

their children Scott Dealtrey, his wife Michelle and their daughter Emma Light Dealtrey

(Nancy's great granddaugh­ter), and Jack Dealtrey.

SERVICES: A Funeral Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until time of the service.
