Franklin Klingaman, 102 years old, of Allentown, died

August 23, 2022, at his daughter's home in Center Valley. He was born August 6, 1920, in Slateville and was raised on a farm with his nine siblings until he joined the Army in 1942 and was a part of the 308th Field Artillery Battalion. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was discharged in 1946. He was married to the love of his life, Kathryn Esther (Knepper) for 63 years until her death in 2011. They had two children, Sandra Jean and the late Terry Walter. He worked for Chiles and Sillivan as a carpenter for over 30 years until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, its bowling team and the Salisbury Fire Company. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, quoits, cards, and puzzles with his family and friends. He resided at B'nai Brith for over 20 years.

In addition to his wife and son, he is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick DeWalt and Mary Jane (Lutz) Klingaman, and his siblings, Francis, Margaret, Dorothy, Jeremiah, Frederick, Irene, Lawrence, Edna, and Miriam. Franklin is survived by his daughter, Sandra, wife of Phillip Conti, of Center Valley, daughter-in-law, Janice Klingaman, of Allentown, grandsons,

Terry Michael Klingaman, of Allentown, granddaugh­ters, Wendi, married to Conn Carroll, of Virginia, Micha, married to Anthony Amici, of South Carolina, Ali, married to the late Dammeon Dandridge, of North Carolina, greatgrand­sons, Chase, Terry Zaine, Mason, Owen, Ryan, great-granddaugh­ters, Madison, Abigail, Andrea, Kathryn, and Adrianna.

A visitation will be held at STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 274 N. Krocks Rd. Allentown, on September 3, 2022, at 11 AM followed by military honors at 12 PM. (www.stephensfu­neral.com)

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributi­ons be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 201 E. Juniata St. Allentown 18103, in memory of Franklin.
