Richard Arnold Strouce
Richard Arnold Strouce, beloved husband of Sallie, passed away at home surrounded by his family in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 21,
2022 at the age of 88. Richard was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on October 13, 1933 to the late Frank Arnold and Anne (Elmer) Strouce. He spent his childhood in Bethlehem and attended Liberty High School. Richard went on to attend Cornell University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in 1956 and a Master's in Business Administration in 1957. While at Cornell, Richard was a member of the ROTC, and after graduating, served for two years as a Lieutenant in the US Army, stationed in Germany. After leaving the military, Richard moved to New York City and was a Principal at McKinsey & Company. In
1964, he married Sallie Hummel of Allentown and they shared eight years in New York City, where their daughters were born, before returning permanently to the Lehigh Valley in 1972. Richard held senior executive positions with businesses in Pennsylvania and Michigan, before buying and managing Lehigh Valley Laboratories. Richard also served on the Board of KidsPeace for six years and was Treasurer for three years.
Richard was the consummate gentleman
and will always fondly be remembered as a dedicated husband and father, for his sense of adventure and for his uncommon kindness and integrity. One of Richard's greatest accomplishments was climbing the Matterhorn in the Alps. He loved traveling, scuba diving and skiing. He was also an avid golfer and a longstanding member of the Saucon Valley Country Club. But Richard's greatest love was his time with Sallie and his girls.
Predeceased by his sister, Nancy Strouce Ferris, Richard is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sallie, his daughters Lindsey Strouce Wright (H. Taylor Wright) and Courtney Strouce Blundin (John D. Blundin), and his six grandchildren Taylor Wright, Clayton Wright, Cameron Wright, Victoria Blundin, Kendall Blundin and Elizabeth Blundin.
