Muhlenberg College Commits to Lifelong Support of Students, Graduates

-

Allentown’s Muhlenberg College has been making headlines—and not just for the research and expertise of its exceptional faculty or the surveys conducted by its

nationally recognized polling center.

CBS News noted Muhlenberg’s success in returning students to in-class instruction following the first year of the pandemic. And The Chronicle of Higher Education applauded the approach Muhlenberg took to incorporate new technologies into admitted-student events.

The college’s career center director was interviewed by Forbes about creative

ways for students to explore and obtain internships and first jobs. Muhlenberg’s process for providing a supportive mentoring environment for traditionally underrepresented students was published in an Inside Higher Ed op-ed.

Muhlenberg was noted for its civic engagement, with students recognized as among the most active voting bodies among higher education institutions.

And Muhlenberg’s focus on sustainability

earned national acclaim for the college’s environmental efforts, including water conservation.

Muhlenberg by the Numbers

Stories like Shah’s and Kozakis’s are common on Muhlenberg’s campus.

The consistent success of Muhlenberg graduates proves that an investment in a Muhlenberg education is a sound

prospect: Muhlenberg alumni have been hired by each of the nation’s top four accounting firms for the past five years, and the college boasts a nearly 90% medical school acceptance rate and entry into the nation’s top master’s and doctoral programs, including Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown and the University of Michigan.

That success is due in large part to the student support on campus (81 percent of the student body takes advantage of career center programming) and the exceptional Muhlenberg faculty—but students and graduates also benefit from the nearly 2,800 alumni and parents who have offered to serve as mentors and provide career advice. Those connections and career center guidance provide students with up to 13,500 project-based professional experiences and over 6,000

internship opportunities.

It’s also worth noting that the Muhlenberg student experience, filled with opportunities to conduct research, perform and exhibit original artwork, spend weeks or months studying abroad and assume leadership roles, is considered exceptional by any measure.

Muhlenberg’s history of strong academic programs—which has only improved over time with forward-thinking programs like sustainability studies and public health—is supported by the addition of graduate programs and an alumni and career network thousands of members strong. Expect to hear even more about this local wonder in the years to come.
