Flyer needs explanation
I recently received a mail flyer from Joe Emrick, candidate for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 137th district. The front of the flier states Joe Emrick “One of Us.” I find this to be a very curious statement. Who is us? And then “who is not us?”
He states on the back of the flyer that he was born and raised and lives in Northampton County, graduated from public school, and is a former teacher. If he was trying to offer a contrast to his Democratic opponent in this election, Anna Thomas, he missed his opportunity. Anna was also born and raised in Northampton County and graduated from public schools. She is very dedicated to public education and has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and her masters in public administration. Her graduate research was done in partnership with the Philadelphia Police Department. Joe Emrick owes it to his constituents to clarify the wording “One of Us.” If elected, would he work for the benefit of all or only those in the “us” group? I await his public explanation.
