Slate Belt Rising, a subsidiary of Community Action Lehigh Valley, is a community revitalization initiative serving the boroughs of Bangor, Pen Argyl, Portland and Wind Gap. The Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor seeks friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to serve as community outreach volunteers by attending community events such as the Celtic Classic in downtown Bethlehem or Beltzville State Park’s Annual Fall Festival to help communicate the mission of the DLNHC and help spotlight the treasures of the D&L Trail and the Corridor region. Greet visitors and provide available information about the featured artist(s) and the Nazareth Center for the Arts on Saturdays and Sundays for two-four hour shifts. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Looking for people who can volunteer at least once a month, but would love weekly volunteers. Drivers are needed to take seniors or disabled clients grocery shopping and/or to medical appointments. Stanley Llama and the pigs, goats, horses, ponies, alpacas and other animals would love to meet you. The Gress Mountain Ranch in Orefield needs volunteers to assist with the daily feeding and watering. Small groups also needed to help with grounds maintenance, composting and cleaning of stalls.
