Stargazing trip to Cherry Springs
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering a stargazing trip to Cherry Springs State Park.
The park is a remote but wellknown destination among amateur astronomers and offers the darkest skies in the eastern United States. Free from development and light pollution, skywatchers can observe over 6,000 stars as well as distant galaxies and deep space objects, and get a magnificent view of the Milky Way.
The trips will be held Sept. 23-25 and features stargazing, tent camping in the park and bike riding on the Pine Creek Rail Trail through the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
Space is limited to 12 people. Cost is $225 per person. For information or to register, call 570-629-3061.
