Trump defenders want special treatment

-

I keep hearing the word unprecedented whenever the Mar-A-Lago document debacle is mentioned. I am reminded of the line from the movie “The Princess Bride” in an exchange between Inigo Montoya and his employer Vizzini. VIZZINI: “Inconceivable”… MONTOYA: “I do not think that word means what you think it means.” The same could be said of the word unprecedented in this case.

Search warrants are executed every day against citizens suspected of wrong doing, be it selling drugs, murder, stolen property or as in this case stolen highly confidential documents. Deference was more than shown in respect of the office Trump held. But that is not enough. Republicans want to wave a magic wand, the same they did with Jan. 6, 2001, and come up with every ridiculous way to downplay what is right before their eyes.

Trump did not deserve the special treatment he has already been afforded and anything beyond that smacks of what looks like a slide towards a fascist state dedicated to the proposition that all Republicans are created disparate and are endowed by their Dear Leader with certain unalienable rights, that among these are guns, degeneracy and the Pursuit of violence.
