Sweet Arrow Lake programs

Sweet Arrow Lake County Park clubhouse, 108 Clubhouse Road, Pine Grove, will offer the following programs:

Volcanoes and Earthquake­s: 3—4 p.m. Oct. 1. Jeri Jones and Brittany Martin will present an interactiv­e program about why we have volcanoes erupting in certain regions around the world and what is the importance of having these dramatic mountains. They will also discuss where earthquake­s occur, how they are recorded and the dangers involved. All participan­ts will erupt several types of volcanoes and make earthquake­s. This program is designed for children. Meet at the Waterfall Pavilion.

Astronomy Night: 7:15—9 p.m. Oct. 1. Jeri Jones and Brittany Martin will present an evening under the stars. Participan­ts will view the moon, Jupiter and Saturn along with some of the summer favorite galaxies, star clusters and nebulae through telescopes. We will also identify constellat­ions and attempt to spot satellites. If weather does not permit viewing, there will be a PowerPoint presentati­on in the pavilion. Meet at the Waterfall Pavilion.

Fall ‘n Leaf Hike: 10-11 a.m. Oct. 8. Join “Porcupine Pat” at the Waterfall Pavilion for a fall hike. Nature’s engine turns again and a new season is in place. Let’s hike to enjoy the colorful scenes of fall.
