Salute from a true patriot

I am honored and privileged, to be an active member of the Topton American Legion Post 217 Honor Guard. We were requested to participate in 9/11 ceremonies at the Trexlertown Fire Company on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022, and we graciously accepted.

It was a rainy day, so our flag bearers were inside the engine room, but the rifle squad, which is my duty, was outside preparing to fire three volleys in remembrance of our fallen heroes. After firing the three volleys, the bugler played taps while we were at present arms. I had a clear view of the gas station located next to the fire house. During taps, I observed a lady pumping gas but stopped what she was doing, turned in our direction, and placed her hand over her heart until taps were over. That lady, folks, is a true American patriot, and restored my faith in our great country. God bless America.
