IronPigs losing streak extends to four

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (72-66) dropped their fourth straight game as they lost to the Rochester Red Wings (63-76). The IronPigs have now lost five games in a row to Rochester dating back to July 10.

Rochester took a 1-0 lead against Hans Crouse (0-3) in the bottom of the first inning as John Nogowski hit an RBI single that scored Andrew Stevenson. The Red Wings extended their lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Jake Alu hit an RBI single that scored Lucius Fox and Nick Banks hit an RBI single that scored Nogowski. Crouse threw a wild pitch that scored Alu and DJ Peters added an RBI single that scored Nick Banks.

Rochester’s Mackenize Gore did not allow a run in 2 ⅔ innings pitched to start the game. He gave up four hits and issued two walks with two strikeouts. Daniel Robertson got Lehigh Valley on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning against Tommy Romero (8-6). Robertson belted his fifth home run of the season.

The IronPigs bullpen was effective as they did not allow a run over 5 ⅔ innings pitched. James Marvel pitched 1 ⅔ scoreless innings in relief. Erik Miller and Trevor Bettencour­t each pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
