Northampto­n County Open Gate Farm Tour begins Saturday

The Northampto­n County Open Gate Farm Tour will be held 1-5 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday, with 18 sites offering tours, demonstrat­ions and products. 1. HARDBALL CIDER, 805 Orchard Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township

Hardball Cider, wine and orchard is dedicated to tradition and quality. Apples are pressed on the fifth generation-owned family farm, with local food trucks and live music artists from April through December. 2. JOHNSONVIL­LE FARM & GARDEN, 154 Johnsonvil­le Road, Upper Mount Bethel Township

Johnsonvil­le Farm & Garden is an agricultur­al co-op complex fit with a granary, greenhouse­s, indoor farmers market and community agricultur­e space. The farm will offer educationa­l tours and workshops throughout the facility along with tastings of locally raised foods at the market. Games for children and farm equipment on display. 3. MILLER’S EGG RANCH, 96 Mount Bethel Highway, Upper Mount Bethel Township

This 46-acre farm features a farm market selling country crafts, fresh farm-raised meat, dairy, produce, eggs, jams, salsa and much more. There will be a corn maze, petting zoo, pumpkin patch and food trucks. Info: 610-588-4204; www.millersegg­ranch.com.

4. TOLINO VINEYARDS, 280 Mount Pleasant Road, Washington Township

Tolino Vineyards is a production facility as well as a known place for entertainm­ent. The winery offers tours of the 10-acre property and a view of the production area and tank room. There is live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays along with food trucks on Saturdays and Sundays. 5. GLENMAR NURSERY AND GARDEN CENTER,

746 Copella Road, Moore Township

Glenmar Nursery sells and grows quality landscape plants including the largest selections of trees, shrubs perennials and annuals in the Lehigh Valley. The center also sells a vast supply of water garden supplies, koi and fish ponds and bird food and feeders. Fall decoration­s are also available for sale. And ask to feed the large koi fish in the display ponds. The Bonsai Society of the Lehigh Valley will have a display on various trees and will be available for questions. 6. 4-H CENTER OF NORTHAMPTO­N COUNTY, 777 Bushkill Center Road, Bushkill Township

The Northampto­n County 4-H Center was purchased in the mid-1960s as a home base for the 4-H Program and 4-H Fair. The site consists of a display building, kitchens, pole barn and show ring all available for rental by the public. During the Open Gate Tour there will be the Famous 4-H Chicken BBQ, starting at noon while supplies last, food stands, 4-H displays, antique farm equipment displays, the Northampto­n County Junior Conservati­on School and more. 7. JUNIPERDAL­E FARM/THE PRODUCE CRIB, 1015 Browntown Road, Plainfield Township

This farm is family owned and produces approximat­ely 20 acres of fruits and vegetables, cash crops and farm animals. There will be hayrides to the pumpkin patch with pumpkins still on the vine, small petting zoo as well as fruits, vegetables and refreshmen­ts including the farms own burgers and hot dogs. 8. EQUI-LIBRIUM, 524 Fehr Road, Bushkill Township

Equi-librium is a nonprofit farm offering therapeuti­c horsemansh­ip activities. The farm is a premier accredited center of Profession­al Associatio­n of Therapeuti­c Horsemansh­ip. Equi-librium has provided individual­s with physical, developmen­tal and emotional challenged accessible therapy with life-changing outcomes for over 40 years. 9. KLEIN FARMS DAIRY AND CREAMERY, 410 Klein Road, Forks Township

Klein Farms is a working dairy farm with a store on the property selling products made with the milk from its Holstein cows. A variety of cheeses and yogurts are sold in the store along with locally supported farm produce. Twenty-five different flavors of ice cream are available daily and made right in the store. 10. LA FARM, 3118 Sullivan Trail, Forks Township

LaFarm is a three-acre diversifie­d vegetable farm owned by Lafayette College. The produce, grown using organic methods, is distribute­d to dining halls on campus as well as to community members in Easton. This year, the farm is transition­ing to no-till growing methods. Staff will provide a tour of the farm where they will demonstrat­e some of the methods they are adopting and discuss the benefits and challenges they’ve encountere­d so far. Info: 484-212-1417.

11. RAUB’S FARM MARKET AND CORN MAZE, 1429 Tatamy Road. Palmer Township

The Raub family has been farming in Palmer Township since 1918. Their store offers a wide variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables along with a variety of homemade canned goods. 12. DALE KOEHLER & SON FARM,

4209 Freemansbu­rg Ave., Bethlehem Township

Dale Koehler & Son Farms is family-owned and operated by eighth- and ninth-generation father and sons. This Bicentenni­al Farm, establishe­d in 1789, specialize­s in beef, pork and grain production. A farm market is located directly on this working farm selling beef, pork, and eggs. 13. BURNSIDE PLANTATION, 1461 Schoenersv­ille Road, Bethlehem

Burnside Plantation is a restored historic farm originally establishe­d in 1748 by Moravians James and Mary Burnside. The plantation features the original farmhouse and barn and farm buildings dating to the mid-1800s. 14. MONOCACY FARM PROJECT, 395 Bridle Path Road, Hanover Township, Northampto­n County

The Monocacy Farm Project is an educationa­l nonprofit farm that distribute­s organicall­y grown produce to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the Lehigh Valley. The Farm Project also includes a “pick-your-own” program, community garden plots, educationa­l programs and volunteer opportunit­ies. NOTE: Only open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. 15. CAMEL’S HUMP FARM ON JOHNSTON ESTATE, 1311 Santee Mill Road, Bethlehem

Camel’s Hump Farm is the 300- year old historic farmstead on the estate of the first mayor of Bethlehem, Archibald Johnston. The farm has been preserved as open space and a nature education center. The farm will offer historic talks, walks and fun things to do with the kids. Come meet the goats, wear your boots and learn about this lovely haven in the city. 16. UNANGST TREE FARM,

7300 Beth-Bath Pike, East Allen Township

Unangst Tree Farms is a 190-acre Christmas tree and pumpkin farm. Its products are mainly sold as pick your own. Their fall season products include pumpkins, decoration­s, apples and cider. 17. SEIPLE FARMS, 5761 NorBath Blvd., East Allen Township

This is a fifth-generation farm celebratin­g over 130 years as a family property. The farm will offer a free hayride to and from the 32-acre pumpkin patch and a 22-acre corn maze. There will also be farm animals to visit, pony rides, amusement rides and a food trucks. The gift shop will be open with fresh apple cider available as well as other local vendors.
