Santo “Sam”

Calantoni, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at home surrounded

by his loving family. Santo was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 18, 1932. He was son of the late George and Petrina (Carlino) Calantoni. He spent a childhood filled with stickball and punch-ball games alongside his “Dead End Gang” of friends from their close-ended NYC block.

After high school he followed his brother Pat and joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as Corporal and Combat Instructor. After his service he moved to Easton where his family had relocated and followed his father and brother into the residential construction business. Over the next forty years that company built homes and apartments throughout Northampton County. This is how he met his wife of 57 years, Victoria, with whom he raised three children and shared his passion for travel and thoroughbred race horses. Sam and Vicky went on to visit several continents and become nationally recognized racehorse owners and breeders. Later in life he loved returning to New York City almost weekly with his wife for lunch at their favorite restaurants. Sam lived his life to the fullest, loved his children and grandchildren, was the fairest in business and embodied what a person could accomplish with hard work and keen instincts. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Castel Club, Easton, which he also had a hand in building.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Santino Calantoni and wife Lauren, Bethlehem; daughters, Holly Calantoni Houser, Easton; Patricia Calantoni, Easton; grandchildren, Cecelia, Sam, and Will.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Placido “Pat” Calantoni.
