Richard F. Werner,

86, passed away on August 19, 2022. He was preceded in death

by parents, Freddie and Merrill Werner; daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Morrison; sister, Gladys Pritchard. Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan (nee Uttley) Werner; son, Alan (Mary O'Brien) Werner; grandchild­ren, Katie and Kevin (Madison) Morrison; son-in-law, Don Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. Richard graduated from Nazareth High School and earned an Associate degree from Penn State in engineerin­g. He served in the US Army, 1955-1957, in a NikeAjax Missile unit. Always a faithful Lutheran, he enjoyed singing in choirs and serving on church councils. He was a long-time member of Whitfield Lodge 622, F. & A.M. He retired after 30 years in engineerin­g at Bethlehem

Steel Corporatio­n, no.2 machine shop. Richard enjoyed hiking on the Appalachia­n Trail with his family and dog, and camping in our National Parks. In later years, Sedona AZ was a favorite destinatio­n. Richard came from a long line of craftsmen. He developed and generously shared his skills in fine woodworkin­g, auto, and home repair. He built many things, and the thing he built best was friendship­s. Family and friends of Richard are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 10-11:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelica­l Lutheran Church, 200 S. Broad St. Nazareth, PA 18064. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM presiding Pastor Scott Hall. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery of Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to “St. John’s Evangelica­l Lutheran Church” and mailed to: 200 S. Broad St. Nazareth, PA 18064.
