Rebecca Lou Silvert

Rebecca “Becky” Lou (Shannon) Silvert, 74, passed away Sept. 23, 2022 at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village Nursing Care Center in Lewisburg, PA.

She was born on

Dec. 4, 1947, in East Liverpool, OH to the late Marion (Pritchard) and John Shannon.

Her family relocated to Wheaton, MD, where Rebecca graduated from Wheaton High School in 1965 prior to the family moving to Emmaus, PA. Rebecca married Dennis Silvert on June 8,

1968 in St. Margaret’s Church in Emmaus, PA. They resided in Emmaus, Paoli, West Chester, Allentown, Upper Milford Twp. for 31 years, and then Melbourne, FL for six years before moving to Lewisburg in 2016.

In 1990 Rebecca earned a Practical Nursing degree, graduating from Lehigh County Community College with honors, fulfilling a dream to become a Registered Nurse. She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown as an LPN and RN, a Certified Diabetes Educator, and later as a Traveling Home Care Nurse. She volunteered to serve in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department of Health and Human Services.

Rebecca enjoyed traveling, visiting many venues, states, and countries with her family. She loved to tell others she saw the Beatles live in concert in Maryland in 1965 and the Rolling Stones live at the Vet in Philly in 1994.

Rebecca loved traveling, loved being a Registered Nurse, and most of all, loved her family.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Dennis Silvert; daughter, Christine Stepp of Sunbury; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Shannon, and Brendan; great grandson, Leo, great granddaughter

Margo; brother, James Shannon; sister, Kathleen Koehn.

In addition to her parents, Rebecca was predeceased in death by her daughter, Corrine Duke and brother, Daniel Shannon.

A private funeral service will be attended by

the family. Burial will be in Solomon’s Union Cemetery, Macungie, PA. Schantz Funeral
