David L. Rader
David L. Rader, 77, of Walnutport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August
24, 2022, at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill.
He was the loving husband of Shirley J. (Lightcap) Rader. The couple would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on October 27. Born in Hellertown, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Sadie J. (Rice) Rader. David attended Northampton High School. For 25 years, David was employed at the former Lehigh Valley Dairy in Allentown, prior to the closing. He later worked at the Mountaintop Campus of Lehigh University
for 17 years, until retiring in 2006 as the lead boiler operator. Music was his passion, and David was a talented guitarist and singer. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt, and he was a life member of Blue Ridge Rod & Gun Club as well as a member of Petersville Rod & Gun Club. David was also a member of Covenant United Methodist Church of Klecknersville.

Lori A. Rader Freda and fiancé, Scott Quinn, of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA, and Tracie L. Unterberg and husband, Phillip, of Allentown; four grandchildren, Ashley Pena and husband, Winston, Amber Freda, Brittney Beiler and husband, Corey, and Michael Unterberg; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Rader and wife, Carol, of Northampton; three sisters, Marilyn Edelman and husband, Dale Sr., of Jamesville, Susan Hahn, and Joann Trach, both of Nazareth; mother-in-law, Marlene (Gaugler) Lightcap of Allentown; brothers and sisters-inlaw; many nieces and nephews; and many caring friends. David was predeceased by a grandson, Auston D. Freda; a sister, Katherine Hartman;
and three stepbrothers, Richard, Henry and Charles Rice.
Services: A memorial service in celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, October
15, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in Covenant United Methodist Church of Klecknersville, 2715 Mountain View Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the church. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Moorestown. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath.
