High heating oil costs not going away
A recent letter to the editor targets the current administration as the reason for high heating oil costs. Anyone who has recently had an oil delivery is in shock as half a tank of oil can cost up to $800 at the current price of $5.75. The real reason for these price increases is the lack of refining capacity that has not replenished inventory, along with the war in Ukraine.
It is not a political party problem; neither party has the tools to address it. At the same time I could not imagine the Republican Party representatives in the state or Washington looking for ways to help anyone switch from oil with incentives or assistance.
Contact your state and federal representatives and senators. The forecast is not good as high heating oil prices are not going away this season or next.
