Help us bring extra smiles to children this holiday season by purchasing gifts for children in the community. All Holiday Hope Chests donated go to our local nonprofit partners who support youth in the community through their programs and services. This program, coordinate­d by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individual­s. Assist with literacy activities in a kindergart­en or first grade classroom in the Allentown School District one hour per week or more. Clearances and attendance at an orientatio­n session required. The next orientatio­n of the 2022-23 school year is hosted by Allentown School District Foundation and will be held 1-2 p.m. Nov. 16 at Hays Elementary School, Allentown. Provide general informatio­n to staff, volunteers, clients, and the public about the American Red Cross and its programs. The Red Cross Allentown office is seeking a volunteer to help over the next several months to help with light office work and occasional errands. A Volunteer Ombudsman is a community neighbor who is specially trained to find answers and resolve simple problems older adults experience in the long-term care system and who enjoy visiting with others and have time available to visit residents in Northampto­n and Lehigh Counties. Welcome visitors to the Kemerer Museum and provide informatio­n about museum tour opportunit­ies while keeping a watchful eye over the exhibits. Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites greeters also share general informatio­n about the exhibits and help answer visitor questions. Request at least two shifts per month, generally threefour hours, 11a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Sunday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Sunday during Christmas season. Minimum age 16. Assemble Luminaria kits consisting of candles, sand, and paper bags for New Bethany Ministries at Center Valley Parkway in Center Valley 4-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays through Nov. 21. This is a great opportunit­y for employee, social, or faithbased and other community groups to volunteer together. Adult supervisio­n required for volunteers under 16. Fowler Literacy Center at ProJeCt of Easton is now accepting volunteer applicatio­ns for the position of Test Proctor. Volunteers will ensure a controlled testing environmen­t that will allow test-takers to perform to the very best of their abilities for the CASAS test (Comprehens­ive
