A special meaning for Veterans Day

-

On Veterans Day, special thanks to all who served our country, and for their willingness to sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. I had the privilege of attending a Veterans Day program with my dad at Lower Macungie Middle School five years ago. The songs were played for each branch of service, and what a complete blessing it was for me to stand beside my dad as I watched him and each veteran in attendance receive a white carnation in honor of their service. This was one of the last precious moments I’d get to spend with him here, as he was called to his heavenly home two weeks later.

Veterans Day will always have special meaning to me, but it turns my eyes to something greater. Because of God’s amazing love for us, he sent his son, Jesus Christ, into time and space, to pay the ultimate price for our freedom, His life for ours. He covered our sins with his own blood, rose again, earning for us freedom, not only in this life, but for all eternity. John 1:12 But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. What a gift! Rosemary Plarr
