Corporations get away with crimes

-

Here is some advice for anyone that’s thinking about committing a crime. Doesn’t matter if it’s theft or even murder, just make sure you incorporate first. That’s your keep-out-of-jail card. Lafarge, an international corporation, gave millions of dollars to ISIS so they could continue their operations in Syria without interruption. Millions of dollars to a brutal terrorist group that has killed Americans and others. What was Lafarge’s penalty for this outrageous behavior? A fine. Yes, no person will go to jail. The corporation just pays a fine and is free to look after its business interests even if that looking after means the death of Americans or anyone else. Remember when Mitt Romney said that corporations are people? Well, Mr. Romney was incorrect. Clearly, if a person had given money or support to a heinous group, that person would be severely punished and, indeed, people have been prosecuted for similar crimes. But a corporation? They get to pay a fine, a cost of doing business. This should outrage everyone!
