Country needs solutions, not political bickering
On Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, The Morning Call had an article titled “US Losing Edge in Rapid Vaccine Development.”
During the Trump era, at the height of the pandemic, Congress had no problem approving “Operation Warp Speed” in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID19. Fast forward to 2022 and the scene has changed. The Biden administration attempted to resurrect Operation Warp Speed. President Biden asked Congress to approve $5 billion for the development of next generation vaccines and therapeutics only to have the Republican Congress block that request. I’m not saying that they should just approve the $5 Billion but stop making it a Red vs Blue issue.
Why can’t Congress just take down the barriers, cross the aisle, and just work together for a common goal? Other countries in this world are passing the U.S. in vaccine development while we can’t put differences aside and stop fighting on the playground. The scientific development and technology, for next generation vaccines, is present and available in the U.S. Congress needs to get their heads out of the sand. Take the gloves off, recess is over, go back to the classroom and work together.
