2010: Moravian men’s basketball coach Jim Walker earns his

400th coaching victory when the Greyhounds beat Drew 79-49. Walker, who began his coaching career at Drew in 1978-79 before moving on to Moravian a year later, has a 400-368 career record, with 286 of those wins coming with the Greyhounds.

2005: Former Central Catholic star Jackie Adamshick scores 25 points to help Villanova upset fourth-ranked Notre Dame 59-54 in women’s college basketball.

2001: Leaving the radio and TV booth to take his first NFL front office position, former Whitehall, Penn State and NFL star Matt Millen is named president of the Detroit Lions. Elsewhere in the league, another Whitehall grad, Les Steckel, is fired as the offensive coordinato­r at Tampa Bay.

1971:

Blair Miers’ pin at heavyweigh­t lifts Phillipsbu­rg to a 25-20 nonconfere­nce wrestling win over Hunterdon Central, the Stateliner­s’ 57th straight victory. 1961: Responding to a December inquiry by the Allentown School District athletic council, nine schools — Allen, Dieruff, Easton, Liberty, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Phillipsbu­rg, Scranton Central and West Scranton — report varying levels of interest in forming a scholastic football league in eastern Pennsylvan­ia.

1961:

Former Fountain Hill star

Dick (Butch) Kosman scores a Moravian College record 44 points in the Greyhounds’ 82-61 win over Scranton at Johnston Hall. Kosman broke Ducky Potter’s year-old record of 42 set against the same team on the same floor.
