Dr. Vernon D. Kressley, 91, of Emmaus, formerly of Allentown, passed away at home on February 8, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Nancy A. Kressley, married for 65 years. Vernon (Vern) was raised in Sellersvil­le and was the son of the late Clairmont A. Kressley and the late Harriet L. (Kipp) Kressley. He was a graduate of Sellersvil­le Perkasie High School and attended Franklin and Marshall College before enlisting in the United States Army. He proudly served in the 1st Infantry Division in Germany during the Korean War ultimately becoming a 1st Lieutenant and earning an Army of Occupation Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Returning to civilian life, he completed his education at Franklin and Marshal College, going on to graduate from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1959. He cared for many people over 42 years of practicing general dentistry in Allentown. Over the years he was active in the community as a member and President of Sertoma, Board member and Chair of the Swain School Board and as a Teaching Instructor in the Dental Department at Sacred Heart Hospital where he also served as the Interim Chair of the Dental Residency Program. Vern was an avid golfer and skier, enjoyed German beer, and was the beloved “Pops” to his six grandchild­ren. He will be most remembered by those who knew him for his gentle, kind manner, his optimism, a bright smile, and wry sense of humor.

Vern was predecease­d by his sister, Linda Pfautz and is survived by his son, Dr. Andrew J. Kressley of Essex, CT; daughter Beth Kressley Goldstein and her husband Dennis Goldstein of Weston, MA; grandchild­ren, Emily Kressley, Ryan Goldstein, Caitlin Kressley, Devin Goldstein, Sara Goldstein, and Aspen Goldstein.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 11 AM in Christ Lutheran Church at 1245 W. Hamilton Street in Allentown. A calling hour will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM in the church.
