Numerous EPC, Colonial League players picked to play in East-West all-star games
The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and Colonial League will be well-represented in the two Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association Big School East-West all-star games
The games are set for Sunday, May 21 at Bishop McDevitt’s Rocco Ortenzio Stadium in Dauphin County. Kickoff for the small-school game for players in the 1A-2A-3A classifications is set for noon. The big school game for players in the 4A-5A-6A classes wills start at 5 p.m.
Chosen to the East team in the big school game were Emmaus quarterback Jake Fotta, Easton offensive lineman Sean Wilson, Freedom’s Jalen Fletcher, who was selected as a cornerback and Alexis Sangster who was picked to play safety, Parkland kickfer Gryffin Mitstifer and his Trojans’ teammate Nakhi Bullock who was also chosen to play defensive back.
Fletcher, who was selected The Morning Call’s EPC co-offensive player of the year along with Nazareth quarterback Sonny Sasso, finished the season with an EPC-best 1,422 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns.
Fotta, who has committed to East Stroudsburg University, bounced back from an ACL injury that kept him out of action his entire junior. This year, he threw for an EPC-best 2.098 yards, completing 130 of 195 passes for 23 touchdowns while throwing just three interceptions.
Wilson, an EPC South first-team all-star on both sides of the ball, is headed to Lafayette and Mitstifer was a dominant force as a kicker with the majority of his kickoffs going into the end zone. He also made 55 PATs and 10 field goals, including four from 40 yards and longer.
The big-school East team will also feature former Whitehall coach Matt Senneca and Liberty coach Shawn Daignault as assistant coaches.
The small-school East squad will have a reunion of Northern Lehigh kids.
Chosen to the team were Bulldogs’ quarterback Nick Frame, who became the first player in school history to pass and rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season.
Other players from Northern Lehigh’s District 11 Class A championship team that finished 12-2 and one game shy of back-toback appearances in a state semifinal, include Isaiah Ramos, who was selected as an athlete, defensive end AJ Jiminez, outside linebacker Ethan Karpowich and defensive tackle Jayden Krempasky.
Several of Northern Lehigh’s rivals were also selected. They included Palmerton wide receiver Daniel Lucykanish, Northwestern Lehigh wide receiver Cade Christopher and Notre Dame-Green Pond offensive linemen Evan Strand and Kendrick Eure.
Salisbury’s Andy Cerco was named to the East coaching staff.
T h e E a s t - W e s t announcement came one day after Whitehall’s Nigel Linton and Emmaus’ Dylan Darville were selected as players to the Pennsylvania Big 33 Classic team and Allentown Central Catholic coach Tim McGorry was picked as an assistant coach.
