Professional and Personal Development at NCC
Northampton Community College’s Center for Business & Industry and Fab Lab are offering a variety of professional and personal development opportunities this March.
The Management Certificate Program will be offered in a virtual format beginning March 6. Throughout the course of this program, participants will learn how to effectively manage and coach their employees while also enhancing their communication and leadership skills. Workshops include: Basic Management Skills, Coaching for Improved Performance, Conflict Resolution Strategies, Effective Interactions, Managing the Performance of Others, and Responsive Leadership. All workshops are taught by industry-experienced instructors, and participants who complete all six will earn the NCC CBI Management Certificate. A Basics of Microsoft Outlook workshop will be held on Zoom 8 a.m. to noon March 14. This is an introductory course that reviews the basic concepts of Microsoft Outlook and how to use it more productively. Topics covered include: how to communicate via email, how to organize your contacts, and how to manage and arrange your calendar. A Messages That Matter workshop will be held March 27 and 28 at NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem. Effective presentations are essential to the development of anyone in the workforce today, and this session will teach participants presentation techniques to connect with others while maintaining focus. It will also explore how to engage diverse personalities and styles both virtually and in person. The March 27 session will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include breakfast and lunch. NCC’s Fab Lab, located in the Fowler Family Southside Center, is equipped with a woodshop, electronics lab, audio booth, metal working lab, 3D printing and a guitar-building program. Classes in March include an Intro to Revit Architecture, a high end, 3D technology from Autodesk that integrates the design and drafting aspects of the building industry; wood sculpting; molding and casting in plastic; embroidered jewelry and more.
