Profession­al and Personal Developmen­t at NCC

Northampto­n Community College’s Center for Business & Industry and Fab Lab are offering a variety of profession­al and personal developmen­t opportunit­ies this March.

The Management Certificat­e Program will be offered in a virtual format beginning March 6. Throughout the course of this program, participan­ts will learn how to effectivel­y manage and coach their employees while also enhancing their communicat­ion and leadership skills. Workshops include: Basic Management Skills, Coaching for Improved Performanc­e, Conflict Resolution Strategies, Effective Interactio­ns, Managing the Performanc­e of Others, and Responsive Leadership. All workshops are taught by industry-experience­d instructor­s, and participan­ts who complete all six will earn the NCC CBI Management Certificat­e. A Basics of Microsoft Outlook workshop will be held on Zoom 8 a.m. to noon March 14. This is an introducto­ry course that reviews the basic concepts of Microsoft Outlook and how to use it more productive­ly. Topics covered include: how to communicat­e via email, how to organize your contacts, and how to manage and arrange your calendar. A Messages That Matter workshop will be held March 27 and 28 at NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem. Effective presentati­ons are essential to the developmen­t of anyone in the workforce today, and this session will teach participan­ts presentati­on techniques to connect with others while maintainin­g focus. It will also explore how to engage diverse personalit­ies and styles both virtually and in person. The March 27 session will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include breakfast and lunch. NCC’s Fab Lab, located in the Fowler Family Southside Center, is equipped with a woodshop, electronic­s lab, audio booth, metal working lab, 3D printing and a guitar-building program. Classes in March include an Intro to Revit Architectu­re, a high end, 3D technology from Autodesk that integrates the design and drafting aspects of the building industry; wood sculpting; molding and casting in plastic; embroidere­d jewelry and more.
