Donald H. Speth, Sr., 96, of Whitehall where he resided at home with his daughter Linda, passed away on August 12, 2023, surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of the late Mabel I. (Warren) Speth for 46 years before her passing in December of 1995. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Leo C. Sr. and Mabel Mae (Christine) Speth. Donald retired from the Whitehall Coplay School district where he worked for 20 years as a maintenanc­e worker. He was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country during World War II. He had a true passion for gardening, always keeping his yard freshly manicured. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfathe­r, and great grandfathe­r. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Donna H., wife of Michael Bednar of Whitehall, Jean L., wife of James Kratzer of North Whitehall, Linda Stine of Whitehall and her fiancé Steve Cerva of Bethlehem, Donald H. Speth Jr. of Whitehall, and Daniel P. Speth and wife Becky of Nazareth; eight grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren. In addition to his wife, Mabel, he was predecease­d by his brother Leo C. Speth, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032. A viewing will be held from 10- 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made in Donald’s memory to the Wounded Warrior foundation at P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
